UPDATED Questions and Answers:
And here are some questions that have already been asked and answered in the first 10 pages of this thread. : )
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Q) Can you switch from MIDI mode to CD and back without having a software crash? I mean, if a play a tune from Traktor and someone comes and give me a cd to play ,can Q) I switch to cd to play it and then back to MIDI to control the program again without crashing?
A) Yes.
Q) So it has native support with virtual dj and traktor? Is the hybrid timecode now supported by NI? Or there is still need to trick the callibration with the Timecode cd?
A) With VDJ yes. For NI, they will not support this Deck, however there are other options:
timecode & .tsi file for Hybrid.
Q) Will it support the new Traktor MK2 timecode?
A) It will include a 2.5kHz timecode signal.
Q) Why won't Native Instruments support this thing in MIDI?
A) They have plans for the other deck.
Q) Is there going to be support for serato?
A) Yes, in Hybrid MIDI mode, with LED feedback this time.
And yes, you still require the SSL Box.
Q) When can we expect it to be on the shelves?
A) Mid to late March 2012 worldwide.
Q) Any word on the price?
A) We expect it to be:
$999 (USD)
£949/€1099
Q) Where can I find the owner's manual so I can read up on it's specs and details?
A) http://www.dm-pro.eu/en/denondj/product ... ontroller/
Q) I would assume that stand alone mode still means stand alone?
A) Yes. You dont need a computer, iPad or router for normal 2-Deck operation....just plug in a USB device to one of the Decks and Link them together by an ethernet cable. You will use the SC3900 display for navigation, with or without a database.
Q) Are the file limits still the same as on previous Denon models? (50.000 songs?)
A) It is now 100,000 per device. The rest of the file/folder specs have also been improved.
Q) Is there a "quantize" function for setting perfect loops and hot cues?
A) There is, but Denon calls it "Snap to Beat Point" in the Engine program.
Q) I've noticed the snap function in the software. Will this be used inside the player too?
A) Yes, the "BPM Sync" button will use this.
Q) Does it do cd & usb waveform on the fly or must it still be scanned by the Engine program?
A) Yes/CD, but Engine also scans for this (device).
Q) Is the platter midi mappable?
A) Yes.
Q) Will there also be an Android app for the deck?
A) Only iPad at this time, but thanks for this feedback.
Q) What kind of buttons are the Cue and Play?
A) The main Cue/Play buttons are made from a hard plastic material. The decision was based on user feedback received worldwide. It’s easier to go from rubber to hard than it is from hard to rubber. The Hot Starts are still rubber to drum out your beats.
Q) I read in the Manual that for the linking the usb to deck number 2 you need an RJ45 cable. Pioneer uses this also to link, so my question is can you link the Denon 3900 with a Pio cdj 2K?
A) No, that wont work. Even a network has a specific protocol.
Q) Is a wave form for cd's?
A) Yes.
Q) How much better is the platter from the sc3900 to compare with the s3700?
A) It’s really a whole new machine with different features. The list is pretty long. You can read the dedicated press release page at: http://usa.d-mpro.com/us/denondj/News/Pages/NewsDetail.aspx?NewsID=36&subsite=denondj
Q) Are the response times of the knobs also improved?
A) Yes.
Q) What about the HID in SSL? Artist, Track, etc.
A) Sorry, not supported, but LEDs actions are supported.
Q) Will it support the new Serato Scratch Live timecode's new "performance series" louder signal?
A) We are already at max audio signal since our Decks don’t require a phono cartridge that has various output levels. Btw, the playback jump to Rel mode will be fixed by Serato at some point.
Q) Is the connection between the iPad and the SC3900 WiFi or Bluetooth?
A) It is WiFi via the router.
Q) Although networked decks can share a single ext usb drive, can each deck have their own usb drive even though they're networked?
A) Yes, any drive connected to the players or your computer is on the Engine Network with full access to each.
Q) Is the platter heavier then the S3700's platter?
A) No, it's the same.
Q) Is the torque higher then the S3700's?
A) Yes, it's now adjustable from 1.0kg ~ 3.0 kg
Q) Can I set hot points and cue points using the Engine software?
A) Yes.
Q) Can two decks both play the same track from 1 usb device?
A) Yes.
Q) Do the cue points and hot starts for any single track also work when that track is used in a playlist?
A) Yes.
More to come....
