A music conference during the day and a festival at night, the Amsterdam Dance Event is Europe’s main gathering for the electronic and dance music industry. Organised for the eighth time in 2003, the ADE has a proven track record of bringing together leading labels, record companies, music publishers, event organisers, media, dot com companies, managements, artists/DJs and other associated parties of the international electronic and dance music scene.
Conference
Targeting new audiences, providing exposure to the most exciting new sounds and taking care of your business needs are the main concerns during the three days of the conference. Taking place in the Felix Meritis conference center, a canal side theatre in Amsterdam’s city center, the ADE offers three networking lounges where you can meet your current or prospective business partner(s) in a quiet setting, take advantage of stereo headsets to listen to new music and utilise mailboxes, internet and email access. A business and message service is also provided for you to ensure you stay connected. Before the event, an online database provides full contact details of all participants. Registered participants can upload a company profile and mission statement on the ADE website.
Meetings and panels
Daytime proceedings at the ADE will feature thought provoking debates, special meetings and panels that provide a stage to some of the music scene’s most prolific and outspoken experts, professionals and artists. Panel topics include A&R, licensing, online developments, dance music media, free legal advice and developments in the live music industry: on the cutting edge of art and commerce, all panels are geared towards the music and the music industry of today and tomorrow.
In addition to the panels, a number of keynotes will be held, by the most visionary of electronic and dance music professionals. In recent years, the ADE has featured keynotes from Jocelyn Brown, Carl Cox, Little Louie, Daniel Miller (Mute), Nile Rodgers, Tom Silverman (Tommy Boy) and Louie Vega.
Night program
The ADE at night brings the city of Amsterdam to life with over 140 DJs and artists showcasing at such renowned venues as the Paradiso, Melkweg, Escape, Panama, More, Club Arena and Amuse, as well as in various other clubs around the city. With the emphasis on upcoming and exiting new talent, the ADE night program is a musical discovery journey where new artists are introduced and fresh sounds can be heard for the first time. Covering the broad spectrum of electronic, dance and urban music - from electro, house and trance to R&B, hiphop, funk and leftfield electronica – the ADE at night is where club audiences return their verdict on the freshest sounds around: straight from the conference to the dance floor and back again.
Media
With an attendance of some 150 radio, print and online journalists, as well as all major European dance and electronic music magazines, the ADE is the platform from which to reach a world wide audience. In addition, the ADE night program is broadcast live by The Netherlands Radio 3FM.
